Lord Gore

Impaled    Engorged

Well we drove for 2 hours and over 100 miles to this show.  Not to see the headliner or the band that came on before them (nothing wrong with Impaled (headliner) or Engorged, just that I have seen them before).  But the band we did go to see was Lord Gore who hail from Oregon and we were not disappointed at all.  Decrepit Birth was suppose to open but cancelled due to the guitarist having pneumonia.  Oh well that was another band we wanted to see but we will see them at the 'Brutality By The Bay' show in a couple of weeks.  So the remaining bands got to play a little longer.

Lord Gore:  Took the stage about 10:00 pm and played for about an hour.  They played most of the songs from the new CD (Resickened) plus songs from other albums.  OK, Gurge (the vocalist) is just amazing!  You hear his vocals while listening to the CD's and think that it is fantastic.  But seeing and hearing him live is just truly amazing!  Not sure how he does what he does but at times in the songs he was able to release his mastery of gore/death vocals while breathing in and rolling his eyes into the back of his head, wow!  Of course he was not alone.  The two guitarist, drummer and bassist (new to the line-up) made it all come together.  Oh another note:  Gurge wore an apron that was made out of skin pieces sewn together with faces and body parts displayed in a 2-dimensional way (fake of course, or was it?).  Very interesting and added more to the Gore that 'Lord Gore' is all about.  At the end of their set we were fully satisfied with everything, it was a great gig.

Engorged:  Well I have to be honest, we stuck around for one song but then decided to leave.  Like I said earlier, we have seen this band before and it was now late at night and we had a two hour drive ahead of us before we would be home (and go to work the next day).

Impaled:  Can't tell you anything since we left, sorry.

In closing this review; although it was a very long night for us we had a fantastic time.  The sound at the Aptos Club was great and the people we met were also great.  Thanks to the club staff for making it an enjoyable visit.  Aptos is also a nice place, go to the Britannia Arms for a meal it's within walking distance of the club and has great food and drink.  If you ever get a chance to see Lord Gore, even if you have to drive for miles, go!
